There is no better time to be living and working in San Antonio than right now. The San Antonio region is committed to growing in a way that is smart and will benefit all San Antonians. At this pivotal moment, we are making some of the most impactful and massive investments in our place which will help us see our commitment through for decades to come.
This month, the San Antonio International Airport (SAT) announced the next phase of its over $2.5 billion terminal development and expansion plan, through conceptional renderings of its third Terminal. This announcement constitutes the first phase of the plan and will offer more capacity for inbound, outbound, and nonstop flights; including up to 17 new gates, 29,000 square feet of airline club lounge space, 41,000 square feet of concession space, and a new, more welcoming global entry.
Redeveloped military bases at Brooks and Port San Antonio have been reshaped into prosperous economic hubs. Brooks just reached a significant milestone of more than $1.2B in investments on the campus, which include investments from manufacturers like Cuisine Solutions, Nissei Plastics, and Bakerly. And Port San Antonio has also surpassed the $1B mark for infrastructure investments alone, attracting companies like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, and others to establish operations.
From the private sector, CPS Energy and SAWS continue to invest in infrastructure to sustainably meet the needs of our increasing population.
These investments happening at this time are not by chance. They’re the result of collective efforts to align around a regional strategic vision and invest in our place to build an even greater future for our residents.
Together, we are driving greater connectivity for our region, which ultimately leads to more opportunities for San Antonians.
Black History Month in SATX
As San Antonians celebrate Black joy, resilience, and empowerment in this month of February, we are encouraged to reflect on San Antonio's Black History. We look at the fight for better representation in the private sector and growth in our predominantly Black Eastside community. With organizations like San Antonio for Growth on the Eastside (SAGE) leading the conversations and putting in the work to build a better future, we are committed to joining in on the hard work it takes to improve and sustain our Black Communities.
Here are some ways you can support Black communities this month (and every month!).
